HUW GRIFFITHS wants Cefn Druids to build on a promising start to the season with a positive result at Caernarfon today.

Druids followed up a goalless draw at Newtown with a 3-1 home success over Airbus as goals from new boy Cody Ruberto, Alec Mudimu and Nathan Peate secured the three points.

But Caernarfon have been narrowly beaten by reigning champions The New Saints, before drawing 0-0 at home to Connah's Quay, so Griffiths is wary of the threat posed by Sean Eardley's men.

"I thought we were good value for our win, but it's only three points," said Griffiths. "It's great to get that first win from our first home game, but we need to back it up with something at Caernarfon.

"If we can get a positive result then it will be one of our best starts to a season, and that would be a great achievement after some poor results in pre-season.

"But we know Caernarfon will be looking at this game as one to get their first win of the season after being handed an awful start against TNS and Connah's Quay.

"They will be looking to build on two good performances by going on a run now, and they will want to start that against us.

"They are a physically big side and they will fancy their chances."

Griffiths will be keen to see his Ancients reproduce the sort of performance they put in against Airbus on Friday night.

"We started off the better team for the first 20 minutes before they equalised and had a spell of 15 minutes," reflected Griffiths.

"In the second-half we missed chance after chance and if we'd scored six or seven there couldn't have been any complaints.

"We were the better side and we were better value for the points."

Ruberto was thrown into action on Friday after Tyrone Ofori injured himself in the warm-up, the striker needing just five minutes to announce himself to the fans.

"He's already a fans' favourite," said Griffiths. "His workrate is excellent and he scored a good goal."

Joash Nembhard also made his debut after agreeing a loan deal from The New Saints, the versatile youngster impressing until he was removed at the break after clashing with Andy Owens and suffering a cut above his eye.

"He was very good," said Griffiths of Nembhard, who, unimpressed with the five-hour waiting time at the Maelor, headed to Watford for treatment.

Nembhard and Ofori look set to miss the trip to Caernarfon with Arek Piskorski and Adam Hesp pushing for recalls.
