BRYAN HUGHES admitted Wrexham were second best as his side suffered a 1-0 defeat at Hartlepool United.
A 25th minute penalty, conceded by captain Shaun Pearson, secured victory for mid-table Pools as Wrexham suffered a third defeat in four league outings.
Wrexham created very little at the other end and failed to get the win that would have taken them top of the National League.
Here's how the players rated.
ROB LAINTON: Almost saved the penalty and not really troubled apart from that. 6
KIERAN KENNEDY: Was kept on the defensive as Pools offered more going forward. 5
JAKE LAWLOR: It was a tough afternoon for the Wrexham defence. 5
SHAUN PEARSON: Will be disappointed to concede the penalty which led to the only goal. 5
JAMES JENNINGS: Not as effective as he has been down the left flank. 5
LUKE YOUNG: Didn't get into the game enough as Pools dominated midfield battles. 5
KEMY AGUSTIEN: Got the ball down and was the player who emerged with credit. 6
JERMAINE MCGLASHAN: A few early glimpses but fizzled out. 5
AKIL WRIGHT: Had Wrexham's best chance but otherwise had a quiet game. 5
PAUL RUTHERFORD: Full of running and can at least say he gave everything. 6
CHRIS HOLRORD: The ball didn't stick enough with him as the lone striker. 5
STUART BEAVON: Added to the attacking options but Wrexham created very little. 4
ANTHONY SPYROU: Had a late shout for a penalty turned down. 4
