JERMAINE MCGLASHAN has vowed to fill the void left by Ben Tollitt and hopefully make even more of an impact.

Tollitt enjoyed a successful three month loan spell with Wrexham and scored his fourth goal in Saturday's 1-0 win over Maidstone but the winger has now returned to parent club Tranmere Rovers.

McGlashan, on loan from Swindon Town, is ready to step up to the plate and show why Reds' boss Bryan Hughes brought him in as Tollitt's replacement.

"I heard good things about Ben and witnessed what he did on Saturday," said McGlashan.

"There was no better way in his final game to score the winner and get man of the match.

"I am here to have a similar impact, if not more, in the run-in.

"It is time for me to step up and show why I have been brought here, and I am looking forward to doing that."

The 30-year-old, who has also played in the Football League for Cheltenham, Gillingham and Southend since being plucked out of non-league by Aldershot Town in 2010, is looking forward to playing his part in Wrexham's promotion push.

"I have played higher than this level for most of my career," said McGlashan.

"I am not fazed by it. You want to be playing for something at this stage of the season, it is worse to be playing for nothing.

"That is why I came here and I am looking forward to it."

McGlashan was handed a starting place for his first game as Wrexham lost 3-1 against Barrow last Tuesday and he was a late substitute in the victory against Maidstone.

"I enjoyed the substitute appearance a bit more because we got the result and it was more about me seeing out the game," said McGlashan.

"The first game was a bit of a tough one to go straight in with the conditions.

"It is a new week and I am looking forward to hitting the ground running now in the next game."

Wrexham head to Hartlepool on Saturday and McGlashan has fond memories of Victoria Park having scored the only goal when Cheltenham won 1-0 in March 2014.

"I know the ground well," said McGlashan. "I scored the winner for Cheltenham the last time I played there a few years ago.

"I am looking forward to it and we have got our confidence back up after Saturday's result, putting the last two games to bed.

"It is about the last seven games and keep putting points on the board.

"You talk about games in hand but you would rather have the points on the board so we have just got to look after ourselves and see where we end up.

"But we are confident, it is all about us."
