CEFN DRUIDS took a huge step towards the Welsh Premier Development League title courtesy of a 3-2 home success over rivals Airbus.

Goals from Lewis George, Kai Jackson and Jordan Evans handed Ancients a crucial three points, which left Druids seven clear of second placed Airbus, who have two games in-hand.

"We just have to keep winning," said Druids coach Shaun Colley, who hailed goalkeeper Niki-Lee Bulmer after he made a crucial save. "We showed a great desire and willingness to win today against a very very good @airbusacademy side @jaycrowther_19.

"Big test for us in the last three games and tests I’m relishing."

Airbus coach Rick Chapman, who saw Harvey Ellis both of his side's goals, was pleased with the performance of his players.

"We knew it was going to be a very tough game," said Chapman. "They had the better of the early exchanges, but once we went 1-0 down we started to play and created some good chances.

"Once we levelled we just needed to get in at half-time level, but Druids scored with the last kick of the half which knocked the wind out of our sails.

"Second half was much better from us, we passed the ball under a lot of pressure and overall, I'm happy with the performance against a very strong side which included three experienced first team players."

Bangor City, who are still in the title race, recorded a 2-1 home win over Bala Town to move a point clear of fifth-placed Connah's Quay Nomads, who lost 3-0 at Caernarfon.

Flint Town United were beaten 2-1 by visiting Rhyl, while Llandudno won 6-1 at Newtown.

The Flintshire Junior Under-19s League title race looks set to go right down to the wire.

Chirk AAA closed the gap to leaders Holywell Town to two points by beating the visiting Wellmen 2-0.

Harry Evans-Jones scored a goal in either half as Chirk tasted victory, while Coedpoeth United are now just six points behind Holywell with three games in-hand after beating Brymbo Lodge 4-1.

Oliver Slawson, Oliver Lewis, Shaun Phelan and Callum Edwards handed Coedpoeth a crucial win, with Ewen Evans netting the Brymbo consolation.

Nathan Stennett scored the only goal of the game as Penyffordd secured a 1-0 home success over bottom side Llay Welfare Colts.
