GRAHAM BARROW admits he could continue with a 3-5-2 formation.

The Reds' boss took the opportunity to experiment during Saturday's FA Trophy second round tie against Leyton Orient who won 1-0 following a disputed penalty.

Although he admits there are things to work on if he sticks with the new-look system, Barrow felt there were a lot of positives to take out of the performance.

"We experimented and put out a strong team," said Barrow. "We had a look at a back three and I thought it was a bit mixed.

"It worked up to a point, we created the better chances until they got the penalty.

"Sometimes you get results but you have got to look at the performance from our point of view, we have been waiting for an opportunity to try and look at something different.

"I wouldn't say it was 100 per cent successful but it wasn't totally unsuccessful because it gave us the chance to give the new lads a run-out.

"James Jennings did well at left-wing back and I thought there were some positives to come out of it as well as the negatives, but at the end it is underlined by the result."

Barrow rested captain Shaun Pearson and was hoping to include Kieran Kennedy in his back-three but the new signing had not received clearance in time to play so returning midfielder Brad Walker slotted into defence alongside Kevin Roberts and Jake Lawlor.

The Reds boss now has to decide how Wrexham will line-up at high-flying AFC Fylde on Saturday as they bid to end a run of four successive defeats.

"I think 3-5-2 is something to consider," added Barrow.

"We are going to carry on with it on the training ground in other ways.

"We used it successfully at Wigan, I just think we have to be able to change within a game because sometimes half-time is too late to change something.

"It has purely just been 4-1-4-1 or 4-3-3, and we have had no other route to go down without gambling.

"I thought it worked alright and it is the way forward."

n The Buckley Reds AGM is being held on Sunday at Buckley Working Men's Club, starting at 8pm.

Wrexham_AFC director Gavin Jones is the guest and new members can join on night.
