GLENN CHAMBERS insists that Pontblyddyn’s success has been down to hard work and “radical change”.

The Flintshire outfit are on the brink of securing a return to the top-flight, while Chambers’ men could also secure the Division One title if they beat hosts Mold today and results go their way elsewhere.

Second placed Mochdre host Dolgellau trailing Pont by 14 points, while Bethesda are a further seven back as they head to Abergele on the penultimate weekend of the season.

Relegation from the Premier Division was tough to take for Pontblyddyn, but Chambers is delighted to be close to a return.

“We’ve played well this season,” said Chambers. “We just need to keep doing what we’ve been doing and that’s keep winning.

“What we’ve done this season is give people an opportunity to try and make an impact on the team. There have been key players in the team who haven’t been given a chance.

“People like Ali Roberts have been moved to open the batting, while the likes of James Hughes, James Griffiths and David Foulkes have all been given the chance to impress.

“It’s been hard, it’s been tough but we needed to go through this radical change as we had been churning out the same side with the same players for years.

“The likes of myself are not the future, but what I can do is offer guidance to the young lads and act as an experienced head lower down the order if they get themselves out.”

Chambers isn’t taking promotion for granted, however, with Mold set to pose a real threat to Pontblyddyn’s 10-game winning run tomorrow.

“Mold are a decent side and we are taking nothing for granted,” said Chambers. “We will play as well as we can and hopefully get the result we want.”

Mark Neath is available for Pontblyddyn, who have a strong squad to pick from.
