A Wrexham heritage attraction has received a generous donation to support its beekeeping volunteers and help educate visitors about the importance of protecting bees.
Stori Brymbo has thanked volunteer Tony Broad, who also works for CF Fertilisers, and the company’s Inclusion Resource Group for funding new equipment for its Bee Group.
The donation has paid for 11 protective bee suits for volunteers and a brand-new educational observation hive, which will allow visitors to learn more about the fascinating world of beekeeping.

The new equipment will help volunteers care for the bees while providing educational opportunities for schools, community groups and visitors to the attraction.
An observation hive allows people to watch bees at work and gain an understanding of how colonies function, without needing to handle the insects directly.

Stori Brymbo, which opened to the public earlier this year, celebrates the area’s natural, industrial and social heritage, including its 300-million-year-old fossil forest.
The former iron and steelworks site has been transformed into a community-led visitor attraction, with volunteering and environmental projects playing an important role in its development.

Its established beekeeping group forms part of a wider programme of volunteer activities, alongside community gardening, ecology and heritage conservation.
The attraction has also previously worked with local schools on beekeeping projects, with pupils from Ysgol Bwlchgwyn designing and decorating two hives for the site.
The latest donation will build on this work, helping the group introduce more young people to biodiversity and the role bees play in the natural environment.

Thanking those involved, Stori Brymbo said: “A huge thank you to our volunteer Tony Broad, also of CF Fertilisers, and their Inclusion Resource Group for their generous donation to the Stori Brymbo Bee Group.”
The attraction described the support as “a brilliant example of businesses, charities, volunteers and communities working together for a more sustainable future.”
It added: “We’re looking forward to using these new resources to inspire the next generation to learn about bees, biodiversity and the important role we can all play in protecting our environment.”
Stori Brymbo is operated by Brymbo Heritage Trust, a registered charity dedicated to preserving the area’s heritage and creating opportunities for the local community.
