A number of our much-loved pubs on our patch have sadly disappeared over time.

From The Custom House at Connah's Quay and The Con's Club in Flint to The Smithfield and The Jolly Tavern in Wrexham, many of you enjoyed the quick trip down memory lane when we recently asked our readers to name a Flintshire or Wrexham pub that they miss going to.

With that in mind, we have recently begun taking a look at some of our pubs from the past individually, recently focusing on The Red Wither Inn, that was once located at Wrexham industrial estate.

Next up in the series is The Mercia Inn, which was located in Mynydd Isa.

Often described as an unusual looking building, the pub split opinion about how it looked on the outside - but inside, it was very much well-loved by its community.

Our readers have previously re-called going to The Mercia to enjoy some charity horse racing evenings.

Sadly, the pub, located on Mercia Drive, closed back in around December 2010.

The building was then converted and replaced by a Sainsbury's Local convenience store.
