Wrexham’s independent traders are hoping to bring some festive magic to the city centre this December with three special late-night shopping events.
Organised by Wrexham Independent Traders, the Indie Christmas Late-Night Shopping events will take place on Thursday, December 3, Thursday, December 10, and Thursday, December 17.
The initiative, led by Samantha Roberts from Ride the Wave, aims to encourage residents to rediscover the city’s independent businesses, support local traders and explore some of the lesser-known shops Wrexham has to offer.
Alongside the shopping events, organisers are launching a three-week Christmas Trail, giving shoppers the chance to win prizes worth up to £200 each week.

Visitors will be encouraged to explore participating independent businesses, scanning QR codes to collect secret words as they make their way around the city centre.
There will be three free weekly prize draws, with each prize bundle containing a selection of vouchers and gifts donated by local traders.
Across the three weeks, shoppers will have the chance to win prizes with a combined value of up to £600.
The festive events follow previous efforts by Samantha and Wrexham Independent Traders to encourage residents to shop locally and discover businesses they may not have visited before.

The group previously organised an independent shopping event in August, bringing together dozens of local businesses to showcase what the city centre has to offer.
Samantha hopes the latest initiative will help bring more people back into Wrexham during the busy Christmas shopping period.
In a statement, organisers said: “The idea is simple: get people through the doors of independent businesses they may never have visited before, encourage them to explore more of Wrexham town centre and remind everyone just how much our local independents have to offer.”
The group is also highlighting free parking being offered by Wrexham Council throughout December, which it hopes will make it easier for residents to visit the city centre.

Residents and visitors can enjoy free parking at all council-operated car parks during the festive period, with the exception of Ty Pawb.
From November 26 to December 24, free parking will be available at the following times:
- Sunday – Thursday: 3pm until midnight
- Friday and Saturday: 9:30am until midnight
The group hope this will encourage more people to enjoy the festive atmosphere while supporting businesses during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year.

Organisers added: “This is about more than just Christmas shopping. It’s about bringing people back into our town centre, creating a buzz, supporting local livelihoods and reminding people that some of the best gifts and experiences can be found right here on their doorstep.”
Further information about participating businesses, the Christmas Trail and how to enter the weekly prize draws will be announced on the Wrexham Independent Traders Facebook page.
The group is encouraging residents from Wrexham and surrounding areas to get involved and support their local independent businesses this Christmas.
