A WOMAN whose body was discovered on Rhyl beach last month has been named.
At the opening of an inquest in Ruthin, John Gittins, Senior Coroner for North Wales East and Central, confirmed the identity of the woman as 82-year-old retired health visitor Kathleen Miners, of Cae Topyn, Denbigh.
Mr Gittins said that at about 10.50am on October 25 a concerned member of the public called the police to report an elderly woman crying and in distress near the harbour.
Police officers attended, but the woman could not be found.
An air and sea search was launched, then at 11.16am another member of the public spotted Mrs Miners' body on the beach. Her car was found nearby,
Pathologist Dr Mark Atkinson, who conducted a post-mortem examination, gave the provisional cause of death as drowning and said there was no sign of any natural disease.
The coroner said that a note was found at Mrs Miners' home.
The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
