Wrexham Council has issued advice to residents ahead of Storm Austen, urging people to report urgent flooding, fallen trees and storm damage.
The warning comes as the Met Office forecasts strong winds across North Wales on Friday, October 23, with the region covered by a yellow weather warning.
Storm Austen is the first named storm of the 2026/27 season, with the worst of the weather expected to affect southern parts of the UK as the system moves across the country.
Gusts of between 45mph and 55mph are possible across parts of the warning area, bringing a risk of travel disruption, fallen branches and power cuts.
As the storm approaches, the council has shared emergency contact details for residents affected by severe weather.
Anyone needing to report urgent issues, including flooding, storm damage or fallen trees, can contact the council’s 24-hour emergency line on 01978 298989.
Council tenants requiring urgent housing repairs can call 01978 298993, also available 24 hours a day.
For out-of-hours housing emergencies, residents can email wrexhamemergency@deltawellbeing.org.uk.
The council has urged residents to only use its telephone services for urgent matters, with non-urgent issues to be reported online.
Residents experiencing power cuts can call 105, a free service connecting callers to their local electricity network operator.
