A POPULAR adventurer from North Wales has been safely located after concerns were raised for his welfare after contact was lost with him and his team.
Ash Dykes, who was born in St Asaph and grew up in Old Colwyn, is currently travelling through the Congo Basin with a support team.
His latest journey takes him more than 700km down the Sangha River, from the Central African Republic to the Republic of the Congo, by inflatable kayak.
But a post on his social media account said it had been "more than 16 hours since we last heard from Ash and the team which is concerning".
Ash and the team have now been safely located, with the lack of communication put down to their Starlink signal being out and a dead power bank.
An update from his page read: "We just received a message from Ash’s sat-phone/Garmin! Everyone is safe!
"The Starlink is out and their powerbank has died, there’s no way for them to send videos or updates, they can only send short messages whenever they get signal on the Garmin.
"That’s all we know right now. We will update you when we know more. Thank you for your prayers!"
