Wrexham Turf Hotel gets approval for new catering unit

Submitted by Wayne Jones, of The Turf Butty Van, the application sought to upgrade the existing catering trailer, which has been a fixture for seven years with planning permission.

The new unit will be larger and more modern, retaining its role as a provider of breakfast and lunch services, as well as catering to customers on busy match days.

According to the application, the existing trailer is 4,860mm long, 2,010mm wide, and 3,000mm high.

The replacement will be approximately 6,000mm long, 3,032mm wide including a canopy, and 2,570mm high.

The site is not vacant, and no work has started yet.

No changes are proposed to highway access, public roads, or rights of way, and vehicle parking remains unaffected.

The site is not at risk of flooding, is not near a watercourse, and will not increase flood risk elsewhere.

Surface-water disposal will be managed via a soakaway.

The proposed opening hours are 7am to 3pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 3pm on Saturdays, with no specified hours for Sundays or bank holidays.

The current staffing is one full-time and two part-time employees.

The application noted that no consultation had taken place with neighbours or the local community.

However, pre-application advice was obtained.

Wrexham County Borough Council received the application on May 26 and granted planning permission on September 2.

Several conditions accompany the permission.

Development must begin within five years and must strictly adhere to specified plans and documents.

The unit cannot be occupied until the biodiversity measures contained in an email dated September 1, 2026, are fully implemented and maintained for the development's lifetime.

Separate drainage for foul and surface water is also required, and land drainage or surface water must not discharge into the public sewerage system.

No objections were noted in the decision notice.
