A community fun day has raised more than £2,000 to support a homelessness outreach team with essential supplies and equipment.
The funds were handed over on Wednesday, September 2, by the Rhosddu Funday team to the Wrexham Outreach Team during a meeting in Queens Square.
The total amount raised, £2,098.61, came from the June 13 event through stallholder fees, sponsorships, and vendor contributions.
Sponsors included Get Into Training, Vickie’s Dog Groomers, GHP Legal, and Sparks Automotive.
Councillor Claire Smith said: "It’s worth all the hard work to see what difference it makes in our community."
Councillor Jon Billington said the donation has secured the future of the outreach project.
He said: "We couldn’t do it without such an amazing team behind the event each and every year and the backing of Rhosddu Community Council.
"Tonight we were all humbled to watch the Wrexham Outreach Team in action and to see first hand the work that goes into their weekly events on Queens Square, assisting Wrexham's finest and those less fortunate than ourselves.
"Every week the team supply a hot meal and snapping bags along with other essentials and most importantly support with a listening ear.
"Matt Pyne, lead member of the Wrexham Outreach Team, was unusually speechless when we handed over the cheque, which ultimately secures the future of the Wrexham Outreach and will support them to keep doing what they do in our community.
"This will allow the team to purchase some much needed medical supplies and some brand new tables to serve from for a start."
The Rhosddu Funday is held annually at Rhosddu Park and features live music, children’s entertainment, food, drink, and community stalls.
