A MAN has been locked up after breaching a restraining order imposed to protect his ex-partner.
Daniel Richards, of Caia Road in Wrexham, appeared at Mold Crown Court for sentence via video link from HMP Berwyn.
The 34-year-old had previously admitted having breached a restraining order, which took place in August this year.
Karl Scholz, prosecuting, told the court that the restraining order had been imposed on Richards on January 21, 2026, for a period of three years.
It prohibits him from being in contact with his ex-partner, Montana Hadley and followed his conviction for intentional strangulation committed against her - at which point he also received a suspended sentence.
Mr Scholz said the breach of the restraining order put Richards in breach of that suspended sentence; as well as another such order imposed for an unrelated offence of dangerous driving, putting him in breach of two suspended sentences.
Richards had a total of 17 convictions on his record for 27 offences; nine of which were for violence-based crimes.
Euros Jones, defending, told the court his client had accepted there was a "certain inevitability" about where he would be staying at the conclusion of the hearing.
"Ms Hadley had been contacting him on a regular basis," he said.
"They have six children."
Mr Jones said while his client had refrained from contacting the complainant for a time, he had eventually done so, "which is why he is before the court today."
He explained the defendant was living in Chester previously, but had since returned to the north Wales area.

"He was on remand for 177 days before receiving his suspended sentence order and has also served 21 days on this occasion," he added.
"He simply wants an early release date and asks you to keep the custodial sentence to a minimum."
District Judge Gwyn Jones told the defendant: "There may be some degree of participation by your former partner in assisting you in breaching the order - but the order is there for a purpose."
The Judge activated 12 months of the defendant's breached suspended sentence and imposed a further six months consecutive for the breach of restraining order; making a total of 18 months immediate custody.
