CUSTOMERS may still notice low pressure or discolouration of water following a burst main in Flintshire yesterday (Tuesday).

Welsh Water has provided an update on the burst main at Alltami, which had closed the A494 eastbound and left properties across Flintshire without water.

Supplies are expected to be fully restored later this morning (Wednesday), and residents whose water returns discoloured have been advised to run their cold kitchen tap to help clear it.

The burst is also affecting supplies in New Brighton, Bryn-y-Baal, Ewloe Green and the top end of Connah's Quay.

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water said customers in the affected area may experience low pressure, discolouration or no water at all until the burst is fixed.

Traffic Wales has confirmed that the A494 eastbound has reopened under temporary traffic lights, whilst work continues.

However, this is causing long delays in the area, as drivers try to make their way through the lights.

Traffic has also been slow on Pinford Lane as a result of the works.

In an update issued at 4.49pm on Tuesday, a Welsh Water spokesperson said: "We are on site to carry out a repair on the A494 Mold Road, Ewloe, after a water main burst in the early hours of this morning.

"At the moment no-one is off supply, although some customers may notice low pressure or discolouration of water.

"We would like to apologise for any disruption and thank customers for bearing with us while we carry out this emergency repair".

Welsh Water follows a five-stage process when responding to bursts, moving from initial investigation through to fault location, repair, reinstatement and a final update once the network is back to normal.

Anyone needing extra support can sign up to Welsh Water's Priority Services Register, which offers help such as bogus caller reassurance and, for medically water-dependent customers, hand-delivered bottled water.

Households can also follow the incident online and register an email address to automatically receive updates as repairs progress.
