Former Wrexham striker is joint interim manager at Woking

Jake Hyde signed for the Reds from Halifax Town in July 2021, shortly after Parkinson took charge at The Racecourse.

After Wrexham drew 2-2 at Solihull Moors on the opening day of the 2021-22 National League campaign - Parkinson's first competitive match as Reds chief - Hyde scored both goals in a 2-0 victory over Eastleigh the following weekend.

Hyde left Wrexham in the summer of 2023 and he brought an end to his 20-year professional playing career at the end of last season having last turned out for Woking.

When former Tottenham and England frontman Jermaine Defoe had his contract at the National League side mutually terminated in July, having only begun his first managerial role in March, winning two and losing one of his six matches in charge, Hyde was appointed joint interim boss of the Cards.

Defoe's exit after only 116 days in charge came two weeks before Woking's opening match of the new season and Hyde, along with Craig Ross, continue to oversee first-team operations on an interim basis.

Ross and Hyde, who had two spells as a player with the Cards, are no strangers to the role, having taken temporary charge in March and earned 16 points from nine matches before Defoe's appointment.

It's not gone so well so far in 2026-27 for the duo who saw Woking pick up four points from five outings ahead of yesterday's home match with Southend United.

On the pair taking charge in the wake of Defoe's departure, Director of Football Jody Brown told the club: “Craig and Jake have been an important part of this football club for a long time.

“They know the players and the environment exceptionally well. They have the full confidence of everyone at the football club, most importantly the players and support staff.

“They’ll do everything to ensure the group gets to where it needs to be for the start of the season, providing the leadership and continuity we need.

“I know they’ll have the full backing of the players and our supporters.”
