THE organisers of a hugely successful medieval fayre in a Wrexham park are planning a bigger and better event next year.
Hundreds attended The Rhosddu Medieval Fayre at Ashfield Park last Saturday (August 15).
The entertainment included re-enactment teams from Cwmwd Iâl and Historia Normannis who put on fighting displays and educational sessions.
There was also a very hands-on falconry display featuring birds of prey ranging from the pygmy owl to the magnificent golden eagle.
Its main organiser Jon Billington, who chairs Rhosddu Community Council, said the event had exceeded expectations due to the teamwork involved.
He added: "I’d like to say thank you to all the volunteers for their hard work this year for organising this event. Events like this can’t happen without a great team behind it and Rhosddu Community Council for funding.
"The two medieval groups made such an authentic medieval village on the day and truly transported Ashfield park back in time.
"I was really pleased to see so many people interacting and discussing the tools, weapons and the beehives on display throughout the day and got behind our Welsh warriors in the arena.

"I was pleasantly surprised to see such a good turn out to a park that many people didn’t know existed, and I’m pleased we got to use this park for such an event.
"After speaking to everyone involved in the day after the event I’m sure we will be back next year even bigger.
"I keep hearing calls for a two-day event next year so we can attract more re-enactors, more tents and more things to keep us all entertained."
