A WREXHAM bowling club has celebrated a milestone in its history.
Garden Village Bowling Club marked their centenary at the weekend with an event for members and guests at the clubhouse.
The Mayor, Cllr Jeremy Kent, unveiled a commemorative plaque at the ground. Also in attendance was Cllr David Bithell, who went on to join the club as a member himself.
Club greensman Malcolm Parry's family has maintained links with the site for several generations. His grandfather was at the inception of the club 100 years ago, his father was a member, and now his son Jamie plays for the club too, having joined this year.
As part of the celebrations Garden Village Bowling Club hosted the final stages of a club competition, and members of the community will be invited to have a go at bowls.

Club chair Natalie Edwards said: "We had a fantastic event, which has helped raise over £700 for the club.
"Cllr David Bithell challenged Mayor Jeremy Kent to an end of bowls, which the Mayor won convincingly. We've told him there's a space place on the A team for him for when he's ready.
"Our fourth generation member Jamie Parry, made the final in the club competition against one of the club's best players, Dave Morris, who eventually won a very tight hard fought match 21-19."
Natalie encourages anyone who would like to try bowling to get in touch or come along to the club, which currently has about 80 members.
She added: "There's a true sense of community here, it's about connection."
