I was delighted to hear that several parks in my constituency of Fflint Wrecsam have yet again been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award.
In Wrexham, Alyn Waters Country Park, Bellevue Park, Ponciau Banks Park and Ty Mawr Country Park all achieved Green Flag Award status for 2026/27.
While in Flintshire Wepre Park, Greenfield Valley, in my constituency, and Bailey Hill, Mold in Clwyd, were also successful. All of them receiving national recognition for being some of the UK’s best green spaces.
It really is great to see these popular attractions being nationally recognised as not only is it good news for local people who use these much valued public spaces but it certainly helps to keep Fflint Wrecsam firmly on the tourist map.
As the Welsh Conservative spokesperson for Families I am always happy to promote any attractions in my constituency and particularly those which hold the Green Flag Award, which is the benchmark for parks and green spaces in the UK and beyond.
It is fantastic to think that many of my constituents and their families will have the opportunity to visit these award winning parks over the Summer holiday.
Congratulations must go to everyone involved in maintaining these parks, especially the many volunteers who work so hard to look after and improve these spaces for us all to enjoy.
I have always been a big supporter of encouraging people to make sure they make the most of being outdoors because as we all know green spaces play a very important role in helping to support wellbeing and health in our communities.
Keep Wales Tidy runs the Green Flag Award scheme in Wales and is an international mark of quality given to parks and green spaces which meet high environmental standards, are well maintained, and offer excellent visitor facilities.
Wherever you see a Green Flag, you know you’re visiting an exceptional place with the highest standards and I would urge my constituents to make sure a visit to one of these popular attractions is in your diary for the Summer as there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
