A promise made during a term as Mayor has been fulfilled after a new minibus was handed over to Dynamic Wrexham.

The specially decorated vehicle is the result of a year long fundraising campaign led by Councillor Tin Mannering to provide the charity with dedicated transport for the children and young people it supports.

Dynamic Wrexham works with children and young people with disabilities and additional needs, providing activities that help build confidence, independence and friendships. The new minibus will make it easier for members to travel to activities, outings and events.

Mrs Mannering said finally seeing the charity receive the vehicle made the year of fundraising worthwhile.

“It is an incredibly proud and emotional moment,” she said.

“Throughout my year as Mayor, I wanted to support a cause that would make a lasting difference in our community, and seeing the minibus finally handed over to Dynamic Wrexham is the perfect culmination of that journey.

“Knowing it will be used for many years to benefit children, young people and their families makes all the hard work worthwhile.”

She said she chose Dynamic Wrexham as her mayoral charity because of the difference it makes to local families.

“Dynamic Wrexham provides invaluable opportunities for children and young people with disabilities and additional needs, helping them build confidence, independence and friendships,” she said.

“Reliable transport is essential for the charity to continue delivering those opportunities safely and inclusively.”

Although there were moments when the fundraising target seemed ambitious, Cllr Mannering said the support she received never wavered.

“Every event, donation and act of support reminded me how much our community cares,” she said.

“The determination of everyone involved kept the momentum going, and together we achieved something truly remarkable.”

Cllr Mannering said the presentation reinforced why the campaign had meant so much to her.

“Seeing the excitement on the faces of the children and young people was incredibly rewarding,” she said.

“Knowing the minibus will help them access activities, make new memories and enjoy new experiences made the presentation a truly unforgettable occasion.”

In a social media post after the handover, Cllr Mannering thanked the businesses, organisations, volunteers, family, friends and members of the public who supported the campaign.

She also revealed the fundraising effort raised more than the cost of the vehicle, with the remaining £2,153.62 donated to Dynamic Wrexham to fund extra summer adventures for the children and young people.

Cllr Mannering also thanked Helen Briscoe, Luke Kett, Brian Prydden and Clive Ray for supporting her throughout the year, along with Wrexham Council transport officer David M Jones, who helped source the vehicle.

Reflecting on the achievement, she said: “The minibus is much more than a vehicle. It represents compassion, teamwork and the generosity of our community.

“I hope it serves the charity and the families it supports for many years to come, creating opportunities, adventures and happy memories along the way.”
