MUSIC fans turned out in force for this year’s Record Store Day in Mold, as VOD Music recorded its most successful event to date.
The independent shop welcomed visitors from across the region on Saturday (April 18), with queues beginning more than 24 hours before the doors even opened.
The first customer, Alan Nicholls, arrived at 5.30am on Friday morning to secure his place at the front, with others quickly joining him. By the following morning, the queue had stretched all the way down New Street.
When the shop opened at 8am, a steady stream of customers filled the store throughout the day, all eager to get their hands on limited edition releases.
Owner Colin Trueman said the atmosphere was as strong as ever, with music fans embracing the social side of the event as much as the records themselves.
As well as snapping up exclusive vinyl, many visitors spent hours chatting in the queue, with new friendships forming among those waiting.
Top-selling releases on the day included titles from Mike Peters, The Stranglers, Pixies, Peter Gabriel, Motörhead, Black Sabbath, and The Doors.
The celebrations extended beyond the shop itself, with many heading across the road to the VOD Record Fair at the Daniel Owen Community Centre, which remained busy throughout the day.
The influx of visitors created a buzz across Mold, with car parks full and increased footfall providing a boost for nearby shops, cafés and bars.

Colin said the team were overwhelmed by the support shown once again.
“The VOD team would like to thank everyone for their incredible support – we can’t wait to do it all again next year,” he said.
This year’s event not only marked a record-breaking day for the shop, but also highlighted the continued popularity of vinyl and the role independent record stores play in bringing communities together.
