A Buckley-based prom dress business saw one of its bespoke designs take to the stage at the 2026 Miss Wales Grand Final.
Avril Davies, of Pink Daisy Prom, created a custom gown for Gabriella Reese, from Ruthin, who competed in the final held in Newport. The team were there on the night to support her as she took part in the competition alongside contestants from across Wales.
The event celebrated the finalists themselves and their wider impact, with organisers praising the “phenomenal” contribution the Miss Wales class of 2026 has made to communities across the country through fundraising, advocacy and volunteering as part of the Beauty With A Purpose initiative.
Although Gabriella did not win the title, Avril said it was still “an incredible evening” and praised her efforts.
“She was incredible,” she said. “All the girls were outstanding. It was such an amazing night and we were so proud to be there supporting her alongside her lovely, super supportive mum.”
The dress itself was designed and handmade by Avril, with support from team members Bronwen Duffield and Rita Polcari.
“She’s made from red duchess satin with a red lace overlay, embellished with beautiful red rhinestones and sequins and finished with stunning red feathers,” Avril said.
The striking gown took around a week to complete and has since been named “Gabriella” by the team.

Pink Daisy Prom, based in Buckley, specialises in prom and occasion wear and regularly works with young people across the region to create one-of-a-kind designs for major events.
The business has also been involved in community showcases, including a recent fashion show at Coleg Cambria, where students modelled dresses on the catwalk as part of an open event celebrating local talent.
For Avril and her team, seeing their design worn on a national stage marks another proud moment for the growing independent business.
