A COMMUNITY council has issued a warning after a person "narrowly missed" being hit by a golf ball by the River Dee.
Holt Community Council has issued the warning after the incident, which involved a member of an angling club.
The council said it happened on the river bank below Dee Park and is not an isolated incident - with 35 golf balls collected from the area around the angling club member.
The council described the hitting of golf balls there as "extremely dangerous" in an area which is popular with walkers, runners, dog walkers and children.
A Holt Community Council spokesperson said: "Holt Community Council have recently been contacted by Port Sunlight Angling Club to advise that one of their Water Bailiffs, who was working on the river bank below Dee Park, narrowly missed being hit on the head by a golf ball, travelling at speed, from the direction of Dee Park.
"This hitting of golf balls towards the river is obviously not an isolated event as the Water Bailiff collected 35 golf balls from the area around him, and noted more in the grass.

"This was an extremely dangerous incident as being hit by a golf ball coming down at speed from above could easily seriously injure or possibly kill a person or animal, if unfortunate enough to be hit.
"The river bank is a popular area with walkers, parents with children and dog walkers.
They added: "Details of the incident have been taken, and should the Community Council become aware of any more reports of golf balls being hit towards the river, the police will be informed."
