I recently paid a visit to Jones's Chip Shop in Wrexham city centre - famously known as the chippy chosen by Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac - and it genuinely lived up to the hype.
Wrexham AFC owners Ryan and Rob choose to have fish and chips delivered from the historic chip shop when they are over from the States.
I kept it traditional with fish, chips, scratchings, and a curry sauce, all for £9, which feels like superb value in today’s climate.
From the moment I walked in, the staff were welcoming, friendly, and more than happy to help.

There’s something about proper customer service in a chippy that just sets the tone, and they absolutely nailed it.
There was also a queue - and when that happens, you know it's going to be good.
The food itself was outstanding.

The fish was beautifully cooked, with a perfectly crisp, golden batter with light, flaky white fish inside.
No grease overload, no soggy coating, just that ideal crunch giving way to tender fish.
The chips were exactly what you want from a proper chip shop: thick-cut, fluffy in the middle, and cooked just right.
They complemented the fish perfectly, rather than feeling like an afterthought.

Then there was the curry sauce, which was rich, flavourful, and properly satisfying.
It had that classic chip shop warmth and depth without being overpowering, and it genuinely left me wanting more.
Even the scratchings were spot on, adding that extra indulgent touch to the meal.

For £9, the portion size, quality, and overall experience make this an exceptional value for money.
Add in the friendly service, and it becomes more than just a quick bite.
Quite simply, it’s the best chippy I’ve ever had - and that’s not said lightly.
If you’re anywhere near Wrexham, it’s an absolute must-visit.
