NORTH Wales Police across the Flintshire region have warned pet owners not to abandon their dogs in cars during the heatwave.

Officers are reminding anyone responsible for a furry friend that they can become distressed and unwell very quickly.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: "Something we unfortunately deal with every year, is dogs left in hot cars.

"We don't take these offences lightly."
