North Wales Police warn motorists of blue flashing lights

Police covering Wrexham Rural have appealed to the public to be aware of any blue flashing lights behind or approaching them while on the road.

A spokesperson said: "We may sound like a broken record here - but people still aren't listening or understanding which in turn is delaying police officers getting to scenes quickly.

"When responding to incidents, some road users don't know what to do in situations when they have blue flashing lights behind them/approaching them.

"Emergency responses to situations from police can be and are often hindered by road users either not paying attention to what's behind them or not knowing what to do in those situations.

"These delays could mean the difference between life and death (extreme we know but this can happen in such instances as RTC's).

But here's what NOT to do when allowing emergency service vehicles to pass safety:

• Stop near to islands in the road leaving little to no room for vehicles to squeeze through.

• Stop on blind bends/corners, we can't see round corners so we can't see any oncoming dangers.

• Don't move to the side and continue your journey at a slower pace.. come to a gentle stop and wait for the vehicle to pass.
