A yellow weather warning has been issued for North Wales as the area prepares to be hit by heavy rain and flooding.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, which will be in place from 12pm on Tuesday (April 15) until 12pm on Wednesday (April 16).

It will cover all of North Wales including Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham.

Some areas may get up to 75mm of rain, resulting in flooding, power outages and transport disruptions.

What to expect from the yellow weather warning in North Wales

The Met Office said the yellow weather warning had been issued across North Wales due to heavy rain, which may result in some flooding and transport disruptions.

The heavy rain associated with the yellow weather warning is also set to cause:

  • Flooding of homes and businesses
  • Longer journey times on roads due to spray and flooding
  • Bus and train services affected with journey times taking longer
  • Interruption to power supplies and other services

A Met Office spokesperson added: "A spell of heavy and persistent rain is expected to move north across western Britain during Tuesday into early Wednesday.

"Whilst there is some uncertainty in where the heaviest rain will fall, 20-40 mm of rain is expected fairly widely.

"A few places may see 50-75 mm of rain during this period: gradually building up in the west following rain on Monday, whilst in parts of the east, falling in shorter periods where heavy showers and thunderstorms become slow-moving."
