A TV PRESENTER and author whose job involves uncovering tales and treasures from the past is to pay a visit to Gwrych Castle as part of a valuation event.
Flog It! star Paul Martin will be at the I'm A Celebrity castle on Thursday, June 5.
The antiques dealer, also known for being the presenter of Trust Me, I'm a Dealer, will give a talk on art, antiques, and the importance of heritage craft skills.
The 66-year-old will also share stories from his life in television, host a Q&A session and sign copies of his book, My World of Antiques.
Attendees can bring along cherished objects and antiques on the day for valuation and appraisal.
A spokesperson for the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust said: "We’re excited to welcome Paul Martin to the castle in June. The event has already proven popular, with many tickets sold.
"Gwrych Castle was once filled with antiques and special pieces of furniture, so it’s wonderful to now have the public bringing their own treasures here.
"It’s a unique opportunity for visitors to have their prized possessions valued by the host of Flog It! in such a beautiful setting.”
The day will also include a talk from the team at Gwrych Castle, located near Abergele, on the restoration project.
The trust received more than £2m from the National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF) in 2023 as part of their Covid-19 Response Fund. Additional fundraising money took their pot to about £2.5m.
The trust hopes to restore the castle during the next five years.
Kevin Illiot, of the Gwrych Castle Trust, has applied to Conwy Council’s planning department, seeking permission for the reinstatement of floors and roofs in the Abergele castle’s core. This is set to be agreed by a committee this week.
The castle has been a "roofless ruin" for 30 years.
Gwrych Castle gained national public exposure after hosting I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! In 2021 and 2022.
