IT HAS been a blooming fantastic, and busy, few days for the team at a Wrexham florist.

Regent House of Flowers, on Yorke Street, along with other florists, wholesalers and suppliers around the country, took part in an industry celebration on Saturday (June 8), for the first National Florist Day.

The event is the first awareness campaign for the floricultural industry, and celebrates all that is wonderful about flowers, floristry and florists, showcasing the skill and magic that goes into it.

As part of the day, business owner Laura Evison and her team were named as one of the 100 Faces of Floristry. They also had a great time giving away 15 prizes to Facebook fans who asked them questions about the job, including a bouquet named after Morgan-Douglas Nuth (council member of the Good Florist Guide) and prosecco, which were won by Kelly Evans. Seven flamingo pots went to Regent House of Flowers' top fans and a few more to dedicated loyal customers.

Laura said: "We were all given a medal by Charisma Trophies and wore flower crowns all day. It has been a great awareness day for all florists in our area - Vivid Floral Design, Maypole Florist, Flowers in the Window, Velvet Peony, Daisy Chain etc."

The team had played a role in a spectacular even in the area on Friday (June 7).

Laura added: "We had the honour to be asked to make the Tour of Britain flowers for the winners too.

"I designed them specifically to be an explosion of colour, with ribbons streaming, so when they held them in the air to cheer, they dance in their victory. The stage flowers were also in the same theme.

"It really is a wonderful event to come to our city, and I am immensely proud of my team."
