Shared Reading

Reading aloud creates a bond. It's a bond of physical closeness, of sharing thoughts, of being engaged in the same story at the same time. One expert acknowledges that we see the importance of this with children, but we ignore its importance for adults. Shared Reading (Read Aloud) for adults takes place at Wrexham Library every Tuesday, from 2.30pm-4pm. A group of people, one of them a trained Reader Leader, reads a short story or poem aloud. We stop and talk about what we have read. There is no need for group members to read aloud or speak - its fine to just listen.

These sessions are free to attend and there is no need to book. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Love Untold by Ruth Jones

Love Untold by Ruth Jones

Love Untold by Ruth Jones

It will soon be Grace's 90th birthday. Elin, her granddaughter, is planning a surprise party, but Grace would prefer a quiet celebration. Grace wants to heal a family rift that has continued for decades.

Elin is stressed, trying to organise the party, keep her marriage together, work full-time, and trying to communicate with her moody, teenage daughter. Beca has problems of her own, she enjoys spending time with Grace, but doesn't get on with her mother. Grace is trying to contact her daughter Alys, who she hasn't seen for 30 years, but is scared of upsetting Elin. A lovely novel, easy to read, but hard to put down. It takes you through the often complex relationships between mothers and daughters. It makes you laugh, and cry, but it also makes you think about misunderstanding and communication in relationships, and how it is so very easy to get things wrong, but also how to make things right.
