JAMIE VARDY has been linked with a move to Wrexham and Humphrey Ker has added fuel to the flames that the the striker could make the switch from Leicester City.

The former England striker scored 20 goals this season, helping the Foxes clinch the Championship title and immediate return to the Premier League.

Now aged 37, Vardy is set to be rewarded for his efforts with a new contract offer.

Vardy came through the non-league ranks and was a prolific scorer for Fleetwood Town who pipped Wrexham to the Conference title in 2011-12, earning him a move to Leicester at the end of the season.

It's been a fairytale journey for Vardy with the Foxes winning the Championship in 2014 before clinching the Premier League title against all odds two years later, and FA Cup success arrived in 2021.

But he is yet to commit to a 13th season with Enzo Maresca's outfit and Wrexham, who have celebrated back-to-back promotions for the first time in the club's history, are rumoured to be interested in the frontman.

When asked about Vardy by SPORTbible, the Reds' executive director Ker said: “There's nothing to say that Jamie Vardy wouldn't be a great Wrexham player.

“It's not a name I've had mentioned inside the building before.

“But, you know, age and profile wouldn't put us off.”
