WREXHAM legend Mickey Thomas sent a message of admiration to Paul Mullin as the striker reached 100 goals for the Reds over the weekend.

A crucial equaliser at Colchester United in an eventual 2-1 on Saturday (April 6) was the one to mark the huge milestone for Mullin.

Incredibly, he has reached the one-hundred goals mark in just 136 appearances for the Reds.

The 29-year-old signed for Wrexham from Cambridge United in July 2021.

Since then, he has been in unstoppable form in front of goal and his 38 goals last season helped Wrexham end a 15-year wait to return to the English Football League.

Another 19 goals this season has helped Phil Parkinson's side on its way to what is likely to be back-to-back promotions with the Reds currently sat second in the EFL League Two table.

Mullin took to X (previously Twitter) to write: "100 up! Buzzing to have reached 100 goals for Wrexham yesterday, what a journey it’s been! Thank you for all the support so far."

A club legend was on hand to offer his congratulations underneath his post.

In his playing days, winger Mickey Thomas famously scored the equaliser with a superb free-kick when Wrexham, then of the fourth tier, knocked out league champions Arsenal in the 1992 FA Cup third round.

He went on to make almost 300 appearances in two spells at The Racecourse and was a member of the famous 1977/78 promotion winning side.

Congratulating Mullin on X, he said: "Can't wait for the next 100 #goalmachine."

Fellow Wrexham icon Andy Morrell said: "Pure class."

Others who praised the striker's goalscoring feats underneath the Tweet included Declan Swans' Michael Hett who wrote: "Superb achievement".

MMA star Aaron Aby, who is from Wrexham, added: "legend! Here’s to the next 100."
