A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder in Wrexham, police have said.

North Wales Police said officers were called to an incident at an address on Wheat Close, Gwersyllt shortly after 5.30am on Sunday (April 7).

Police said a 52-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene. The man’s family have been informed, and they are being supported by specialist officers. The coroner has also been informed.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody whilst enquiries continue, police said.

Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Hughes said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with the deceased’s family at this very difficult time. I would like to reassure the local community that we believe this to be an isolated incident, and there is no suspected threat to the public.

‘However, our investigation is in its early stages and we remain open minded about the circumstances surrounding this incident. I would ask that if anyone has any information that could assist our enquiries, including any CCTV, doorbell or dash cam footage on Saturday, April 6and/or Sunday, April 7 in Wheat Close, Gwersyllt and the surrounding area, that they contact us either via our live webchat online or by calling 101 quoting reference 24000319290.
