WREXHAM'S driving test pass percentage is lower than the national average, new figures show. 

With a pass rate of 47.4% Wrexham is the 226th easiest place to pass your driving test in the UK.

Figures from the Driver and Vehicles Standard Agency show the pass levels for areas up and down the country from April 2023 to December 2023. 

The national average is 48.8%, meaning Wrexham sits just below that mark. 

Of the 3,630 people to sit their driving test in Wrexham last year, 1,719 were successful in passing. 

The figures show that women were more successful in passing their tests in Wrexham with 47.9% of the 1,543 tests taken by women ending up in a pass. 

47% of the 2,084 tests taken by men were passed. 

August proved to be the most prolific month for passes in Wrexham with 57.1% of tests being successful, the next best was October with 51.2%. 

Wrexham's pass rate is down from the year before with 49.3% of all tests in 2022 passing. 

In nearby towns and cities, Chester was 257th on the list with a 44.7% success rate. 3,394 of the 7,601 tests done in 2023 were successful.

Oswestry was much higher on the list with a 54.3% pass rate. That score ranked it 104th overall. 

The easiest place to pass your test in the UK is Benbecula Island in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. It boasts an 88.8% pass rate with 71 out of 80 tests being successful last year. 

The hardest place to pass is Wolverhampton with only 3,638 out of 11,225 passing last year. That gave the area a 32.4% pass rated ranking it 326th on the list.
