A mum-of-four spoke of her shock after someone left her youngest child's car seat "covered in glass" in an act of criminal damage.

Prince of Wales Avenue resident Leah Evans said she woke up on Saturday to see a post on Facebook about damage having been caused to cars in Flint at around 6am that morning.

To her horror, her own car was in a photo included with the post.

"We went outside and found our car had been damaged as well," the 22-year-old said.

"There was a massive hole in a rear window.

"Then other people were getting out of bed and coming out to check their vehicles - some had wing mirrors hanging off."

Mrs Evans has four children, the youngest of whom is eight months and the oldest is seven years.

She said one of the most upsetting elements of the incident was seeing her youngest child's car seat "covered in glass."

"It was really upsetting," she said, "especially considering she's so young.

"And the fact it's a seven-seater family car and you can clearly see child seats in it - I don't understand how someone can do that.

"If they (those responsible) had any respect, they'd come forward and pay for the damage they've caused - and the upset they've caused a young family.

"It was very scary for the children as well when they found out someone had done this.

"They kept asking if they were going to come back."

The damaged window will cost in the region of £400 to replace, Mrs Evans said.

She explained: "I just feel absolutely gutted.

"I am going to have to get it temporarily repaired or wait until I've got the money to get it fixed.

"It's not a cost you need and it's so disrespectful.

"Luckily we have my husband Kyle's vehicle. We don't all fit in it, but if it wasn't for his car, we'd be stuck."

Mrs Evans encouraged others who have had their vehicles damaged in this incident to speak with North Wales Police.

A police spokesman said: "We received a call at 9am on Saturday, March 23, reporting vehicles parked on Prince of Wales Avenue, Flint, had been damaged.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact us on 101, or via the website, using reference number Q040579."
