THE FOUNDERS of a food cupboard in Wrexham were recently hosted in London by the city's MP.

Member of Parliament for Wrexham, Sarah Atherton MP recently hosted the owners of the Rossett Food Cupboard, Paul and Claire Marshall in Parliament for a tour and to watch Prime Minister’s Questions.

The Rossett Food Cupboard works with supermarkets to collect goods that would otherwise be wasted. Paul, who alongside his wife Claire and a handful of local volunteers runs the service.

The Cupboard is working to reduce food waste and at the same time helping residents. The items range from cereals to fresh produce.

As the demand for the service has outgrown the current site, with more than 150 families using the facility each week, Ms Atherton has been working with Paul and Claire and Wrexham Council to secure more appropriate premises.

There are hopes that news on a move will be released soon.

Sarah Atherton MP said: “Having supported the Rossett Food Cupboard since its inception, I was delighted to host Paul and Claire in Parliament as a thank-you for all they do in the community.

"The Cupboard’s eco-friendly approach is a shining example of what our community has to offer. It is paving the way for reducing food waste whilst supporting individuals who may need some extra help or are rightly environmentally focused.
