A GIFTED student from Wrexham will has had the magical opportunity of appearing on the West End this week.

Nia Waterfall, from Overton-on-Dee, made her West End debut on March 21 by performing at London’s Leicester Square Theatre as part of Liverpool Theatre School’s graduate showcase.

The high-flying musical theatre student, who is tipped for future success, showed off her singing, dancing and acting skills in front of an audience of talent scouts, agents and industry influencers during the prestigious theatre school’s West End performance.

The former Maelor School pupil, who has been performing since she was three years old, trained at Coleg Cambria before landing a place on an elite musical theatre course at Liverpool Theatre School.

The centre of excellence boasts a long list of success stories with alumni appearing in West End musicals and touring shows such as SIX, Frozen, Blood Brothers, Wicked and The Book of Mormon.

Speaking on Nia taking part in Liverpool Theatre School’s graduate showcase at the Leicester Square Theatre in London, Principal Maxine Ellis, said: “As our graduating students prepare to make their mark as professional performers, this will be an invaluable opportunity for Nia to showcase her talent in front of the industry influencers in the audience."

She added: “Staging our graduate showcase in London’s West End means we’re right on the doorstep of the top agents and casting directors who are on the lookout for emerging talent. Many of our former students have gone on to join the cast of West End musicals and touring shows, so we’re really looking forward to following Nia’s professional career as one of the stars of this year’s graduate showcase.”

Nia, who is now 21 years old, said: “I was so excited about having the chance to perform in the West End, it was an incredible experience. I’ve worked really hard to get to this point in my training and I couldn’t wait to get out there and give it everything I’ve got!”

Liverpool Theatre School, whose patrons include dance legend Wayne Sleep OBE, as well as stage and screen star Anita Dobson, provides professional training in Dance, Musical Theatre and Acting.

Accepting only the most gifted students, places at Liverpool Theatre School are awarded through a strict audition process.
