A MAN who has retired after dedicating more than 27 years to North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has been congratulated for his work in Colwyn Bay, Wrexham and Rhyl.
Eryl Owen, a training department watch manager, retired last week after almost three decades of service.
He joined the service as an on-call firefighter based in Colwyn Bay in 1997, before becoming a full-time firefighter in Wrexham.
In addition, Eryl spent time working at the Rhyl and Colwyn Bay fire stations and on the rural watch.
Eryl also led the service’s Phoenix team, and worked in watch manager roles within the fire safety, operations and training departments.

He said: “Since first joining as an on-call firefighter, I’ve loved my career and all of the opportunities I’ve had to try new things.
“I’d recommend it to anyone - I’ve been able to protect my community, help colleagues learn and progress, and had unforgettable experiences, while making friends for life.”
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service added: “Thank you for your service and commitment Eryl - ymddeoliad hapus i ti (happy retirement)!”
