RYAN Reynolds and Rob McElhenney announced a historic tour for the Wrexham AFC women's team in typically hilarious fashion.

The club's star co-owners featured in a pretend press conference announcing that the women's team are to tour the United States for the first time - alongside a new partnership with financial services company Ally.

In the clip, Reynolds aims a series of playful digs at his co-owner's 'reckless; spending - labelling him 'Mr I want to build a new Kop' and 'Mr let's do a show - it won't cost you a thing'.

“We’re grateful to everyone at Ally for their support in getting the team out on the road this summer,” McElhenney and Reynolds said. “Beyond all of the wins at home, this tour is a fantastic way for Wrexham AFC Women to show the world what they’re made of.”

They added: “At Ally, we’re out to make women’s sports unmissable. Sports fans are going to want to come out to watch this tour,” said Andrea Brimmer, chief Marketing and Public Relations officer at Ally.

“The Wrexham AFC Women are massively talented. They have the skills and heart to capture the world’s attention.”

The team's US trip will feature competitive matches as well as collaborations with key figures in women's sports. More details on U.S. stops and matches will be released at a later date.

Wrexham AFC confirmed last week that a friendly against Premier League giants Chelsea has been arranged and will take place in Santa Clara.

Two more fixtures are to be confirmed as part of the 'Wrex Coast Tour’.
