HUNDREDS of runners are expected to take part in the Wrexham 10k next month.

The race, organised by Adrenaline Sporting Events, is set to take place on Sunday, April 21, starting and finishing in the city centre.

Runners of all abilities have been invited to take part, with 22 trophies up for grabs on the day.

Each finisher will collect a unique Welsh-themed medal at the finish line on Queen Square.

The race will start at 9am on Queen Square, where runners will head down Ruabon Road towards Rhostyllen.

There they will turn left onto Hafod Road and complete a circular loop surrounding Erddig, before heading back towards the city centre and the finish line.

JCB is the title sponsor of the event, and there are hopes that the race will become a 'big event' for the area which will boost the local economy.

Several road closures are set to be in place during the course of the race to allow for runner and spectator safety.

Organisers say the race is expected to last 90 minutes, which would see roads start to reopen at around 10.30am.

The event is open to any over the age of 15, and more information can be found on Adrenaline Sporting Event's website - Wrexham 10K - Adrenaline Sporting Events
