THE region had a front row seat at the weekend, to one of nature's most beautiful spectacles.

Members of the Leader Camera Club and Leader readers took the opportunity to see the stunning aurora borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, for themselves.

Many shared images of the purple, green and blue phenomenon, captured at locations across North Wales.

Caused by solar storms of the surface of the Sun, electrically charged particles collide with Earth’s atmosphere, creating the often wavy, colourful display in our skies.
