HUNDREDS of people turned out for the St David's Day parade in Wrexham city centre.

It is one of the most popular events in the Wrexham calendar, and this year's parade was bigger than ever - with about 700 people, including schoolchildren, taking part.

Welsh actor Luke Evans was spotted in the huge crowd of people.

The parade assembled outside the Guildhall (Llwyn Isaf) at 12.45pm before starting at 1pm under the leadership of Band Cambria, making its way through the town and ending at Queen’s Square where everyone sang the National Anthem and Calon Lân, led by Andy Hickie.

For the first time this year celebrations continued at Tŷ Pawb at 4pm with live entertainment from Welsh artists Megan Lee and Meinir Gwilym, Welsh produce stalls and a family craft session.

Wrexham mayor, cllr Andy Williams, said: "As Mayor, I was thrilled to witness the amazing Saint David’s Day celebrations in Wrexham City Centre, it was a testament to our community's spirit and pride.

"Year on year, these festivities continue to grow, showcasing our rich heritage and vibrant culture, uniting us all in celebration and strengthening the bonds that make Wrexham truly remarkable.

"I’d like to thank everyone for attending including our friends from Patagonia and various families from around the world I spoke to."
