MEET some of the babies born on leap day in North Wales.

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) has posted photos of some of the babies born today (February 29).

Parents Toni and Dewi welcomed Baby Edward (Teddy) Hughes to the world at 9.38am weighing 6 lb 4oz.

Robyn Turp and Tom Jones welcomed baby Zelda Jones at 11:27am weighing 5lb 8oz

Baby Bradley arrived at 1.09pm weighing 7lb 9 oz to parents Georgia Westbury and Kyle McHugh.

A BCUHB spokesperson said: "Congratulations to all the new parents and thank you to all the teams who are caring for the new mums and their babies on our maternity wards today!"

Leap Day takes place on February 29, an extra day that is added to the Gregorian calendar around every four years.

The chance of being born on this date is often said to be one in 1,461, so for less than 0.07 per cent of the world’s population it has its perks but also some struggles.

This means these little ones' leap birthdays will be even more special in the years ahead - despite only being able to celebrate on their actual birthday every four years with many more 'honorary' birthdays on February 28 or March 1 thrown in along the way.
