GLAM rock band The Sweet are to play two special concerts in Portmeirion this summer to celebrate the 75th birthday of Wrexham-born guitarist, Andy Scott.

Billed as “Andy’s 75th Birthday Bash”, the gigs will take place on June 29 and 30 – the latter being his birthday - with tickets on sale from 12pm tomorrow (March 1) to mark St David’s Day.

A statement on The Sweet’s Facebook page read: “Get ready for the celebration of the century as we mark Andy's 75th birthday with not one, but two Sweet shows at the enchanting Portmeirion in Wales!

“This promises to be an unforgettable event filled with music, laughter, friends, and joy.

“Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks as we unveil exciting details about the performances and all the festivities!

In the early 1970s, The Sweet had a string of hit singles, including Wig Wam Bam, Block Buster and Ballroom Blitz.
