MEMBERS of the public are being encouraged to consider applying to join a coastguard rescue team.

Flint Coastguard Rescue Team launched an appeal over the weekend in relation to its ongoing recruitment drive.

A spokesman said: "Looking to do something rewarding?

"We’re currently looking for Coastguard Rescue Officers to join our teams.

"HM Coastguard is the UK’s 999 Maritime and Coastal Emergency Service.

"Our Coastguard Rescue Service is made up of volunteers who carry out rescues and help those in distress around our coast.

"As a volunteer Coastguard Rescue Officer, you could be involved in a range of situations, from mud, cliff and water rescues to searches for missing people.

"As a volunteer you will not be paid. You can claim a small amount for your time and expenses."

Volunteering with the Coastguard is a rewarding role that supports and gives back to the local community.

The spokesman added: "You can make a real difference and help to save lives.

"For more information about the Coastguard Rescue Service, visit www.hmcoastguard.uk/volunteer or to request an application form, e-mail area14@mcga.gov.uk by Friday, March 15, 2024.

"Include your name, age, current address and contact number.

"Please also specify which Coastguard Rescue Team you have an interest in joining in your local area.

"You will then be sent an application form."
