HOUSE prices increased in both Flintshire and Wrexham during the latest round of figures.
They increased by 0.9%, in Flintshire and 1.5% in Wrexham during December 2023, the latest Land Registry figures show.
The average Flintshire house price in December was £218,308 and, in Wrexham, that figure was £204,487.
Over the last year, the average sale price of property in Flintshire rose by £490 – putting the area fifth among Wales’s 22 local authorities with price data for annual growth.
During that same period, the average sale price of property in Wrexham fell by £2,200 – putting the area eighth on that list.
First steps on the property ladder
First-time buyers in Flintshire spent an average of £183,620 on their property – £500 more than a year ago, and £40,980 more than in December 2018.
By comparison, former owner-occupiers paid £244,820 on average in December – 33.3% more than first-time buyers.
First-time buyers in Wrexham spent an average of £177,700 on their property – £2,200 less than a year ago, but £38,300 more than in December 2018.
By comparison, former owner-occupiers paid £234,100 on average in December – 31.8% more than first-time buyers.

Property types
Owners of semi-detached houses saw the biggest rise in property prices in Flintshire in December – they increased 1.3%, to £189,239 on average. Over the last year, prices rose by 0.8%.
Owners of flats saw the biggest rise in property prices in Wrexham in December – they increased 1.9%, to £101,745 on average. Over the last year, prices dropped by 1.6%.
How do property prices compare?
Buyers paid 2.1% more than the average price in Wales (£214,000) in December for a property in Flintshire and 4.4% less than the average in Wrexham.
Across Wales, property prices are low compared to those across the UK, where the average cost is £285,000.
The most expensive properties in Wales were in Monmouthshire – £348,000 on average.
Monmouthshire properties cost 2.7 times the price as homes in Blaenau Gwent (£131,000 average), at the other end of the scale.
