A CHARITY set up in memory of its founders' daughter is set for their biggest fundraising event to date with a bucket collection at this weekend's Wrexham AFC's home game against Notts County.

Boxes of Sunshine was launched by Kev and Lynsey Hill, from Wrexham, in September 2022 as a way to honour and keep their youngest daughter Kirsten's memory alive, after she very sadly died of Leukemia in November 2021.

For the two years preceding Kirsten's sudden death, she suffered with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The condition causes extreme fatigue, muscle and joint pain and brain fog.

Lynsey said: "It robbed our vibrant young daughter of her independence and left her virtually housebound. When we were thinking of ways to keep Kirsten's memory alive, we wanted to do something to help other young people who suffer with chronic illness or long term health conditions, and so Boxes of Sunshine was born."

The charity sends out postal gift boxes to young people living with chronic illnesses or long term health conditions, anywhere in the UK. In their first year the charity sent out more than 200 boxes.

Kev and Lynsey, along with family and friends, are looking forward to their bucket collection on Saturday, February 17, before such a big game for Wrexham AFC against Notts County.

Kev added: "It will be a great opportunity not only to raise vital funds for our charity, but to raise awareness of who we are and what our charity does."
