SOME bus services in Wrexham and Flintshire are affected by the snowfall today (February 8).

Heavy snowfall is impacting areas of Wrexham and Flintshire - especially on higher ground - today, with an amber alert in place in western areas of the county until 3pm.

Arriva said its number 11 service from Wrexham to Minera was suspended, and that services 12 and 14 (Wrexham to Brymbo) were only running as far as the Rollers pub, and not serving Brynteg or Brymbo.

Service 3 to Penycae was operating to main roads only as far as Ruabon Roundabout then returning, not serving Penycae.

At 1.30pm, Arriva said its number 3, 11, 12 and 14 services have all returned to normal.

The service X51 from Wrexham to Denbigh has been suspended between Ruthin and Wrexham.

In Flintshire, Arriva services 4, 4a and 4b 11 (Chester to Mold) will operate to main roads only, not serving Bryn -Y-Baal.

Snow and ice is expected to cause disruption across north Wales and northwest Shropshire on Thursday.

The Met Office warned areas covered by the amber snow warning to expect: 

  • There is a good chance that some rural communities could be temporarily cut off
  • Travel delays on roads are likely, stranding some vehicles and passengers
  • Power cuts are possible and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected
  • Some delays and cancellations to rail travel are likely
  • Untreated pavements and cycle paths likely to be impassable with injuries from slips and falls likely on icy surfaces
