A NORTH Wales MS is encouraging residents to get their applications in after further UK Government funding was made available to projects in Wrexham.

Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, said the UK Shared Prosperity Fund is now offering grants totalling £1 million for three more grant schemes in Wrexham.

He said: “Applications are now open for new projects and I would urge anyone who fits the criteria to make sure they apply as the money is there to help with suitable schemes.

“Last year over £2.5 million was awarded to more than 50 Wrexham based businesses and community projects which is great news for the area.

“The UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund is a huge part of the UK Government’s Levelling Up agenda and it is heartening to see the interest in this funding from the UK Government to help projects in North Wales.”

Mr Rowlands is now encouraging residents to get their applications in for funding.

Here are details on what can be applied for...

The Shared Prosperity Funded grant schemes re-opened on January 22, so you can enter an expression of interest in the following categories.

The Multiply Key Fund will support projects that aim to improve numeracy skills for adults aged 19+ who have not previously attained a Level 2/SCQF Level 5 or higher maths qualification (equivalent of GCSE Grade C/4).

The scheme offers funding from £10,000 to £200,000 to support projects.

The People and Skills Key Fund will support projects that help adults improve their maths and IT skills, and move them closer to entering employment. It offers funding from £3,000 to £125,000.

These grants are open to a variety of Wrexham-based organisations, groups, charities and businesses.

Councillor Mark Pritchard, leader of Wrexham Council and lead member for finance, said: “This is fantastic news and we want local businesses, groups and organisations to take full advantage.

“If you have a project that could benefit Wrexham and your community, please take a look at the criteria and consider putting in an application.

“We want this money to work hard for Wrexham, and so we need to hear from people with good ideas that can really make a difference.

“These opportunities don’t come around very often – please make sure you don’t miss out on applying for these grants.”
